"No activity has had a more positive impact on my overall physical and mental health than studying Alexander Technique with Margie. I began weekly lessons in 2011 and have appreciated her ability to help me apply AT in many aspects of my professional and personal life. Whether it's conducting a 3-hour rehearsal, playing piano on a 4-hour gig, or writing music at the computer, I am able to use my body efficiently and remain pain-free, thanks to AT lessons. I've even been able to apply it in my drive to work and daily walks!
As a veteran private voice instructor, Margie has decades of experience adapting her teaching approach for individual student needs and learning styles. We often spend lesson time with me at the piano or computer keyboard, and she has also attended my concerts to offer feedback on how I conduct, breathe, and speak to the audience. And, as I discovered during the pandemic of 2020, lessons with her work via distance learning! I recommend AT lessons with Margie for anyone who hopes to address or prevent the aches and pains that come with repetitive motions, bad habits, or simply getting older."

"When I was diagnosed with chronic pelvic pain syndrome, I looked for anything that might help. That's when I found the Alexander Technique. Working with Margie, I began to see dysfunctional ways I was holding tension in my body when I sat,
stood or moved. The tools that I've learned from the Alexander Technique have helped me dissolve these habitual patterns and lead a much more pain-free life. And, taking lessons from Margie is just plain fun!"

"I started working with Margie to discover a way of bringing more ease to my work as a performer on the stage. I had tried everything to relieve the tension in my back and shoulders - exercises, yoga, posture drills - but as soon as I walked on stage, the tension would creep in and my shoulders would creep up, strangling my voice and aching my muscles. The Alexander Technique asks us to undo rather than do - a radical idea! Even more radical, the Alexander Technique encourages us to approach this work as play, centering curiosity over judgement. My sessions with Margie are full of laughter and discovery, and I credit the Alexander Technique with bringing me more joy and ease into my daily life and my work on stage. Bravo!"

"It was a joy going each Saturday to my Alexander Technique session with Margie! She introduced me to an entirely new way of thinking about my body, my posture, and, simply my overall well-being.
Not only is Margie a wonderfully knowledgeable teacher, but she shares all that with a manner that is gentle, caring, understanding, and patient. I had so much to learn in how best to use my body – so much un-doing of bad habits, e.g., something so basic as sitting! I moved out of state, or I would still be attending those weekly sessions with Margie. I came away from each session feeling better physically, that then affected me emotionally and even spiritually. Margie is the best!"

"After recovering from a spinal cord injury and cancer treatments, I had trouble singing for my elementary music students. Alexander Technique lessons improved my posture and breathing so that singing was easier, but it also facilitated post-injury nerve healing in my legs. I have more strength and stamina in my lower body and a more comfortable walking gait. Better lower body stability allows for a more relaxed upper body, so the tension I have always held in my shoulders and neck is diminished. Little did I know that trying to help my voice would build up so much of my body. Studying the Alexander Technique has definitely improved both my quality of life and my ability to function!"
